You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation

What is Dramatherapy?

Dramatherapy is the use of theatre techniques to facilitate personal growth and promote mental health. Through play we can touch on issues that may be arising and process them by expressing oneself. Emotions, behaviours and situations can be explored through drama games, role play, storytelling, puppetry, masks, myths and fairytales.

It can be used in multiple settings such as creches, schools, hospitals, mental health centres, day centres, prisons and businesses. It can be applicable to individuals, groups, couples and families. No drama experience is needed.

Who I Am

Hello! I'm Ciara O'Sullivan.
I’m lucky to have had the opportunity to build a career by doing what I love. I have worked extensively as a theatre practitioner in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Passionate about the power of arts within the healing process and mental health, I completed my masters in Dramatherapy at Maynooth University, Ireland in 2018. Registered with the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists, I have worked with indigenous communities, Autism Spectrum Disorder Units, Primary and Secondary schools, and day services for Adults with intellectual and physical disabilities.
I am very passionate about human development, transformation, growth and the importance of play from birth onwards.
