Anybody can become
angry, that is easy; but
to be angry with the
right person, and to the
right degree, and at the
right time, and for the
right purpose, and in
the right way, that is
not within everybody's
power, that is not easy.

ANGER MANAGEMENT
"I don't know what came over me"
"It just happened out of the blue"
"She/he deserved it"

These are common sentiments of people who have anger
management issues. Anger is probably the most poorly
handled emotion in our society. But what is anger and when
does it become a problem?

Firstly anger is a feeling it is
neither right or wrong it just is.
From time to time, all of us experience this powerful feeling.
We all get angry!

Some of the most common causes of anger include: hurt;
frustration; annoyance; harassment; disappointment; taking
things personally; and threats.

Anger can be our friend or enemy; it depends on the way in
which we choose to express it. Knowing how to recognize and
express it appropriately can help us to reach our goals, solve
problems, handle emergencies, and protect our health. A
failure to recognize and understand one's anger can lead to a
variety of personal difficulties.

Anger is an underlying cause of both anxiety and depression.
Anger that is not expressed can disrupt relationships, affect
thinking and behaviour patterns, and create a variety of
physical problems, such as high blood pressure, heart
problems, headaches, skin disorders, and digestive problems.
What's even worse is the correlation between the dangers of
uncontrolled anger and crime, emotional and physical abuse,
and other violent behaviour.

Aggression  however is different -  it is a learned behaviour.
The good news is we can unlearn it!
Non - aggression is a
learned way of behaving also.

Managing our anger involves:

Learning to recognise the signs of tension and upset.
Learning to give ourselves instructions to manage our
anger.
Examining some of our beliefs, attitudes and
expectations.
Breaking down incidents into easy stages to understand
them.

Verbal or physical aggressive behaviour can lead to problems
in
jobs, relationships, social and sporting activities.
